Leading professionals from industry and academia addressed the challenges of meeting the nutrition and health demands of today's world at the Institute of Food Science and Technology's (IFST) Spring Conference and AGM, hosted by the University of Chester at Burton Manor College, Wirral.
Among the delegates were senior nutritionist for Kellogg's, Jenny Walton, Danisco UK's Dr Julian Stowell, and Corinne Vaughan from the Food Standards Agency. The IFST is the leading independent qualifying body for food professionals in Europe.
Professor Chris Smith, IFST Fellow, said: "As a university, we were delighted the Department of Biological Sciences was involved in the organisation of this conference with others of the North of England branch of the IFST.
"The conference sessions were of particular interest to food scientists, dieticians and nutritionists, and it was great that the University's nutrition and dietetics students were allowed to attend and have access to the specialist knowledge of such distinguished experts."
